SouthCoast Wind Fund – Grant Applications Opening; Info Session Attendance Strongly Encouraged

NEW BEDFORD, MA – The SouthCoast Community Foundation announced today that the SouthCoast Wind Fund, which is administered by the Community Foundation, will open its first round of grantmaking on September 5th and intends to distribute $500,000 to local nonprofits by December of this year. SouthCoast Wind and the Community Foundation will hold information sessions about their grant application process on August 31st and September 12th, and any organization interested in applying is strongly encouraged to attend one of the sessions.

“This inaugural grant cycle exemplifies our deep, long-term commitment to the community. We are excited to see what partnerships will develop through this process and what innovative programs we will be able to support through the Fund,” said Francis Slingsby, CEO of SouthCoast Wind.

Funding will focus on programs that:

  • Support workforce development in offshore wind and related industries through the creation of training, internship, and apprenticeship programs;
  • Develop diversity in the future employment pipeline for the offshore wind and related industries and/or;
  • Expand community awareness and advancement of the offshore wind industry through collaboration, education, and outreach.

Organizations in both Massachusetts, especially on the South Coast, and Rhode Island are welcome to apply.
