In this season of gratitude, I reflect on how thankful I am for the rich culture and vibrant arts present in our South Coast communities. Theaters, galleries, dance, music — they enrich our world, and the South Coast is fortunate to be replete with many people, events and organizations that bring the arts to life. Supporting the arts is one of the key initiatives of the SouthCoast Community Foundation because we know that cities and towns are made infinitely better through arts programs and artists.
As we look towards the holidays, here are a few ways that you could support these areas (and have a little fun too!):
- Support Buy Black NB and “Small Business Saturday” by buying from local artists and artisans.
- Bust out of your usual evening routine and enjoy a cultural event.
- Give back! There are so many wonderful nonprofit organizations on the South Coast doing great work such as creating public art, bringing arts programs to young people, helping artists with business plans, and more. Find your favorite and make them a part of your year-end giving tradition.
And, this weekend, after all the turkey is gone, and the shopping is complete, I hope you will take part in #GivingTuesday and consider a gift to nonprofits that are important to you, including the SouthCoast Community Foundation. Thank you for your continued support.
