SouthCoast Community Foundation Awards More than $540,000 in Scholarships

Supporting eighty-four local students in pursuit of a higher education.

 

NEW BEDFORD, MA – On July 28th, local students gathered at the Buttonwood Park Zoo for the SouthCoast Community Foundation scholarship reception to receive their awards totaling more than $540,000. This year’s 84 recipients were chosen from a pool of more than 600 high school seniors and college students from throughout the region, representing 24 different educational institutions.

“Scholarship season is always a highlight for the Community Foundation,” commented Sarah Rose, Director of Engagement for the SouthCoast Community Foundation. “Giving deserving students the ability to further their education and enabling scholarship funders the ability to help those students realize their dreams is a win-win.”

The SouthCoast Community Foundation is one of the largest aggregators of scholarships in the Southeastern Massachusetts region. One resource provided to all applicants is the uAspire Financial Aid Help Desk. The Foundation was one of the first to use this innovative and new online tool. It assists students and their families in navigating the financial aid process, such as completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) form, locating affordable college options, and paying tuition, room, and board.
