SouthCoast Community Foundation Announces Team Additions and Promotion

May 5, 2021

Deepening the organization’s development, program, and financial capabilities.

NEW BEDFORD, MA – The SouthCoast Community Foundation announced today the hiring of two new positions, Werlaine Badio as Programs Officer, supporting arts and culture, education, and economic development initiatives, and Nhamaa Cortes as Accounting Clerk. Additionally, Adrianna Heard is promoted from Development Systems Administrator to Donor Services Associate. Werlaine and Adrianna will report to Sarah Rose, Director of Engagement, and Nhamaa will report to Charles Holley, Director of Finance. The staffing additions deepen the organization’s development, program, and financial capabilities and position it for year three of its five-year strategic plan: Re-commitment: 2019-2023.

Werlaine grew up in Brockton, graduated from the University of Massachusetts – Dartmouth, and is now living in Fall River. Adrianna was born and raised in New Bedford and graduated in 2020 with honors from Westfield State University.

“Werlaine’s background in operations management and customer service, combined with her strong connections to the communities we serve, will help us extend our reach, explore new possibilities, and track our progress,” commented Director of Engagement, Sarah Rose. “And Adrianna has quickly proven herself to be efficient, accurate, and compassionate in serving our donors and advisors. We are delighted to promote such an exemplary member of our team.”

Nhamaa was born and raised in New Bedford and will graduate later this Spring from Bridgewater State University with a degree in Accounting and Finance.

“We are excited to have Nhamaa join our finance efforts,” stated Director of Finance, Charles Holley. “His passion for giving back to the community, eagerness to learn and grow in this new role, as well as his upcoming degree will serve him well.”

These recent additions round out a capacity-building effort that started in October 2020, when the Community Foundation brought on three senior team members, Sarah Rose, Director of Engagement, Charles Holley, Director of Finance, and Kim Goddard, Marketing & Communications Manager. All three report to President John Vasconcellos.

The SouthCoast Community Foundation is a nonprofit serving thousands of people throughout Southeastern Massachusetts who share a common goal of improving the quality of life through philanthropy. Since 1995, the Community Foundation has distributed over $50 million from more than 200 funds to humanitarian, educational, and cultural organizations in the region.
