Scholarship Program Intern

SUMMARY: The SouthCoast Community Foundation awards more than $500 thousand in scholarships every year to deserving high school and college students, based on their academic performance, character, and financial need. These scholarships enable future community leaders to pursue their field of study and earn a degree. 

This summer, the Community Foundation will commence an intensive review of the current Scholarship Program to evaluate the current application process, measure impact of scholarships on student persistence and graduation, and collect quantitative and anecdotal information on overall effectiveness of the Scholarship Program. 

The Scholarship Program Intern will assist with all aspects of the project. Responsibilities include:

  • Evaluate the scholarship awards system
  • Review application timing and process
  • Create evaluation method to determine equitable distribution of awards and identify any unintentional racial, ethnic, economic, gender, etc. disparities in the process
  • Determine best methods to gather financial data from applicants to pinpoint financial need based on college selection
  • Survey current year recipients to determine impact of scholarships
  • Develop systems to track past recipients and identify addition needs for college success
  • Investigate scholarship programs at other community foundations
  • Prepare reports and blogs on findings


Candidates must meet the following qualifications:

  • Ability to multitask and cope well under pressure
  • Eager to work and learn in collaborative environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft office (Excel, word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to work full time (40 hours a week)

  • Computer program competency

Internship Details:
