One of the best parts about starting a new year is that it is fresh with possibilities for the future. It is the one time of year when we make resolutions to change, to commit to ourselves, and to aspire.
It seems like the perfect time to announce the launch of the BankFive Presidents’ Scholarship Fund. Through its partnership with the SouthCoast Community Foundation, BankFive has seeded the new scholarship fund with a $1.2 million gift.
The scholarship honors past BankFive Presidents & CEOs who valued the importance education and leadership plays in young people’s development and the opportunities it opens for their careers. In keeping with the bank’s values of Human, Dynamic and Steadfast – this fund helps individuals in our community better themselves through this sustainable gift.
The scholarship fund is available to students from BankFive communities (Bristol County, MA, Bristol and Newport Counties, RI) who are pursuing a college education. The recipient earns a four-year scholarship to a graduating senior from Bristol County, MA, Bristol and Newport Counties, RI, to attend an accredited college or university. This scholarship is awarded with consideration of either academic achievement or financial need and is renewable each year that the student is enrolled full-time and meets eligibility requirements.
At this time of year, high school seniors are thinking about graduation and their next steps. Many are receiving college acceptance letters and considering the financial impact to themselves and their families. As you interact with the young people in your life, we encourage you to tell your friends and families about this opportunity.
BankFive has served the SouthCoast for 168 years, it is the dedication of our customers and employees that allow us to create this meaningful impact for college bound students in our community. We honor former BankFive President & CEOs who have lead the way and look forward to continuing our work for generations to come. We know we are better, together!
